Reflexology
Reflexology is a fascinating complementary therapy based on the principle that different areas of your feet are connected to different parts of your body. These connections form a map on your feet, with specific points corresponding to organs, glands, and other body systems. Through gentle but precise pressure techniques applied to these points, reflexology aims to help restore your body's natural balance and promote healing.
Dating back to ancient civilisations, reflexology has evolved into a respected complementary therapy that works holistically - treating the whole person rather than just specific symptoms. During a treatment, I use my fingers and thumbs to apply careful pressure to these reflex points, which may help stimulate your body's own healing processes.
While deeply relaxing, reflexology is more than just a foot massage. It's a systematic practice that aims to bring the body into balance, potentially helping with stress, anxiety, sleep issues, hormonal imbalances, digestive problems, and general wellbeing. Many clients find it provides a deeply restorative space to unwind, recharge, and reconnect with their body's natural rhythms.
Your journey begins with a comprehensive 60-minute session including:
A detailed 15 min consultation to understand your health history and goals
A personalised 45-minute reflexology treatment
Aftercare advice and treatment plan discussion
Reflexology is a gentle complementary therapy that many people find helpful for a variety of physical and emotional concerns. While everyone's experience is unique, clients often report improvements in their wellbeing across many areas of health. Here are some of the common issues that regular reflexology treatments may help with:
Stress and anxiety management
Sleep difficulties
Hormone balance
Women’s Heath
Digestive issues
General relaxation
Pregnancy and Fertility
Energy levels
Overall wellbeing
Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that you can relax in. You'll only need to remove your shoes and socks for the treatment, so there's no need to change your outfit.
This varies depending on your individual needs and the reasons you're seeking reflexology. While some clients benefit from weekly sessions initially, others find a monthly treatment helps maintain their wellbeing, and we'll discuss the best plan for you during your first appointment.
While reflexology is generally a safe and gentle therapy, there are some conditions and circumstances where it may not be suitable. During your initial consultation, we'll go through your medical history thoroughly to ensure reflexology is right for you.
Drinking plenty of water after your treatment helps support your body's natural processes, and many clients find this enhances the benefits of their session. It's also beneficial to take things easy for the rest of the day, avoiding strenuous activity and stimulants like caffeine and alcohol to allow your body to gain maximum benefit from the treatment.
No special preparation is needed - just arrive as you are and ready to relax. If you're receiving treatment at home, simply ensure you have a comfortable chair or sofa where you can recline and rest during the session.
Your first appointment begins with a detailed consultation where we discuss your health, lifestyle, and what you'd like to achieve from reflexology. The treatment itself is deeply relaxing, and you may feel sensations in different parts of your body as I work on the corresponding reflexes in your feet.
